ASUENE Inc. has launched “ASUENE DPP,” a new capability within its AI sustainability platform, “ASUENE,” designed to support companies in meeting Digital Product Passport (DPP) disclosure requirements in the European Union.
ASUENE DPP centralizes product, component, and raw material information management, supplier data collection and validation, LCA/PCF calculations, DPP generation and publication, access controls, and update history management. Its AI-powered data validation capabilities identify missing information, formatting errors, anomalous values, and other potential data issues, helping improve the quality of data used for LCA/PCF calculations and DPP generation.
The solution supports companies that need to address evolving European product regulations across industries including batteries, steel, aluminum, textiles, furniture, and construction products, providing end-to-end support from complex product data collection and management through DPP disclosure readiness.
Background to the Development of ASUENE DPP
In 2024, the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) entered into force, accelerating the introduction of Digital Product Passports as a framework for digitally managing and sharing environmental, traceability, and other product information.
Because these requirements apply to companies placing covered products on the EU market, Japanese companies exporting products to the EU will also need to prepare for compliance.
Under the EU Batteries Regulation, battery passports will become mandatory for certain categories of batteries beginning February 18, 2027. The ESPR has also identified product groups including iron and steel, aluminum, textiles and apparel, and furniture as priorities, with detailed regulatory requirements, including DPP-related requirements, being developed for each product category. For construction materials and products, the EU is also developing a framework for DPP implementation under the Construction Products Regulation.
Meeting DPP requirements requires companies to collect and continuously manage a wide range of product-linked data across the entire supply chain. This is particularly challenging for manufacturers with large numbers of components and suppliers, which must accurately map complex product structures to multiple types of underlying data and establish processes to manage that information on an ongoing basis.
