Sky Perfect JSAT Corporation, a pioneer in Japan’s space and satellite communications industry, has introduced the “Asuene GHG” cloud service provided by Asuene Inc., which supports the visualization and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The company is using the service to calculate CO₂ emissions in the satellite communications and broadcasting business, and is working toward formulating and implementing an action plan for decarbonization.
Initiatives toward decarbonization of satellite communications and broadcasting business
Sky Perfect JSAT, which provides services including satellite communications, media content, and mobile backhaul, considers addressing climate change to be an important corporate responsibility. In July 2021, the company declared its support for the TCFD recommendations and has since been enhancing its climate-related disclosures. In 2023, it published its first Integrated Report and Sustainability Report.
To fulfill its responsibility as an infrastructure company supporting Japan’s information and communications, the company is promoting initiatives to reduce CO₂ emissions from its core satellite communications and broadcasting businesses. This includes activities such as fuel conversion and the adoption of renewable energy.
Selected Asuene GHG for its ease of use, intuitive UI, and flexible support
To further accelerate decarbonization efforts, Sky Perfect JSAT adopted Asuene GHG, a cloud service for calculating greenhouse gas emissions (Scopes 1, 2, and 3). The system was introduced primarily to visualize emissions and improve the accuracy of calculations.
Key reasons for selecting Asuene GHG included:

- The ability to calculate emissions across all 15 categories of Scope 3;
- And the flexible support system, including prompt responses to questions and advice on environmental strategies.
Asuene GHG enables the company to comprehensively understand the emissions across its operations, allowing for more accurate reporting and improved internal awareness of CO₂ reduction.
Toward promoting decarbonization company-wide
Sky Perfect JSAT plans to utilize the emissions data obtained through Asuene GHG to formulate a decarbonization action plan and set reduction targets. In the future, the company intends to promote sustainability activities across the entire value chain in collaboration with stakeholders such as partner companies.
