Asuene CEO Kohei Nishiwada Speaks at the Japan–Taiwan Innovation Summit 2025. Highlights collaboration with SMBC and M&A strategy to build a sustainable society

Asuene Inc. is proud to announce that its CEO, Kohei Nishiwada, spoke at the Bridging Day of the Japan–Taiwan Innovation Summit 2025, held on Monday, August 25, 2025.

The keynote theme was “Transforming Supply Chains and Driving a Sustainable Society through M&A and Corporate Partnerships.” Nishiwada shared Asuene’s track record in pursuing strategic M&A and highlighted the achievements of its collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).

During his session, Nishiwada outlined Asuene’s approach to expanding its business through M&A and strategic alliances, emphasizing the role of co-creation between startups and large corporations in shaping a sustainable society.

He presented specific examples of Asuene’s past M&A activities and explained how collaboration with SMBC has accelerated cross-industry partnerships, enabling Japanese startups to scale their impact. Citing the integration of the “Sustana” business, initiatives to support supply chain transformation with a global outlook, and the creation of new ecosystems combining the strengths of startups and enterprises, Nishiwada shared both the results to date and his vision for the future.

He also highlighted how M&A has supported initiatives such as carbon accounting and advancing ESG management, stressing that by combining the agility and speed of startups with the trust and scale of large corporations, companies can meaningfully contribute to a sustainable society.

About the Event

The Japan–Taiwan Innovation Summit 2025 brought together startups, major corporations, financial institutions, and government officials from both Japan and Taiwan to strengthen innovation ties between the two regions. Under the theme “Go Big Together,” discussions spanned global expansion, fundraising, M&A, supply chain transformation, and sustainability.

Featured speakers included Kunihiro Kuninaka, Joint General Manager Innovative Startups Coordination Department of Mizuho Bank, and  Kohei Nishiwada from Asuene. The event also welcomed a VIP address from Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, who spoke about startup exchange between Tokyo and Taiwan and initiatives toward building sustainable cities.
