From Hong Kong to Madrid and Riyadh — a global partnership advancing sustainability in sports and events
- Challenge
- No reliable, data-driven system to measure and manage emissions across global events
- Travel, logistics, and venue operations were major emission sources without clear tracking
- Needed to demonstrate tangible sustainability action to partners, speakers, and attendees
- Solution
- ASUENE – ESG and carbon accounting platform
- Streamlined measurement of Scope 1–3 emissions and identified key hotspots, especially travel-related emissions
- Enabled actionable steps to reduce environmental impact and improve reporting transparency
- Impact
- Measurable sustainability initiatives across three events: 40 bamboo plants (Hong Kong), 100 superseeds (Madrid), 203 waste bags collected (Riyadh)
- Insights revealed travel accounted for over 80% of total event emissions, guiding priority reduction strategies
- Strengthened credibility and accountability with stakeholders through data-driven reporting and tangible actions
Partnering for Global Sustainability

As the Global Sustainability Partner of World Football Summit (WFS), ASUENE is driving sustainability across major global events in Hong Kong, Madrid, and Riyadh. Together, the partnership brings data-driven carbon management into the heart of the international sports industry, enabling WFS to measure, manage, and reduce the environmental impact of its events—from travel and logistics to venue operations—while setting a new standard for sustainability in global football events.
Turning Data into Action

With ASUENE’s carbon accounting and ESG expertise, WFS gained a structured approach to track and manage its emissions, with travel-related emissions representing over 80% of the total carbon footprint across all events. This insight enabled the organization to identify key areas for emission reduction and prioritize sustainability actions, turning broad climate commitments into concrete, measurable impact. The platform also facilitated clear reporting for partners, speakers, and attendees, reinforcing credibility and accountability in WFS’s sustainability strategy.
Hands-On Initiatives Around the World
Beyond measurement, the partnership extended to hands-on sustainability initiatives engaging participants and local communities:

Around 40 bamboo plants were planted in Hong Kong to showcase bamboo’s role in carbon sequestration, soil restoration, and as a sustainable, versatile resource. Participants also learned how bamboo cultivation contributes to circular economy systems.

100 superseeds were produced in Madrid to support soil regeneration and the growth of an estimated 10–15 trees in areas affected by wildfires. This hands-on initiative highlighted the impact of small-scale interventions in environmental recovery

203 bags of waste were collected during the Riyadh Desert Cleanup and sent to the Riyadh Municipal Recycling Facility, transforming local action into measurable environmental impact.
Leading by Example
These combined efforts highlight how World Football Summit and ASUENE are driving sustainability beyond dialogue—delivering measurable environmental outcomes while inspiring the global football ecosystem to take action. By integrating data-driven insights with meaningful on-the-ground initiatives, the partnership demonstrates how international sports and business events can lead by example, turning sustainability commitments into tangible impact.
Building on this momentum, ASUENE and World Football Summit will continue their collaboration at the upcoming WFS event in Mexico in June 2026. The next edition will further expand efforts to measure event-related emissions and engage global stakeholders in advancing sustainability across the football industry.
